SONIC-ROCKET
RECORDING STUDIO ELECTRICAL & CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEMS
Both the Electrical and Climate Control systems presented costly challenges but comfort is a necessary luxury at Sonic-Rocket.
Getting the walls up brings a rush of excitement. It feels like you’re almost done. Trust me — you’re not even close. Recording studio wiring alone is a project unto itself.
The electrical work hit fast and hard. The sub panel sat way too high. It needed to move to what would become the equipment closet. An electrician handled the panel move. Every other wire in the studio got run by hand. Lighting and utility circuits stay completely isolated from audio circuits.
Miles of expensive multi-channel snake cables run from each room to the patchbay. The patchbay sits in the control room next to the console. Every connection required hand soldering and testing. Clean, clear recording depends on every one of those connections being right. Getting the recording studio wiring right is one of the most critical steps in any studio build.
Climate control was non-negotiable. Too many studios cut corners on air conditioning. That was never going to happen here. Two complete ductless systems went in at a cost of over $10k. Comfort is not a luxury in a recording studio — it is a requirement. Your best work demands it.
